It's a gloomy Tuesday in Chicago Land
Hello Kathy my Sunshine...you too make me laugh...a lot! Like the comment of appointments getting in your way of doing absolutely nothing....LOL!! I love your humor....and you too!!
I am glad the liquid diet is going well for you so far. Just don't run out of sugar free popsicles!!! They saved me!! I always bought that really good broth in a jar. It was almost kind of paste. It was the best I every had. It was more expensive but it was so worth it!
I know what you mean about the computer being addicting. I really have to watch my time or I would never get off it. I try to leave the evenings for myself. Sometimes I will check in quickly before bed but not every time.
You have a good rest of the day!!
I love you....hugs.....connie d
Good Afternoon Ladies.
Went to the dentist for another visit today - had Part 1 of a two part "deep cleaning" Was not bad - dentist numbed my gums very well. Friday is Part 2, and next week ~ two extractions -- what fun!
Today's "Early Morning Project" was to empty the hutch out completely ~ have piles everywhere. I was going to move it down the hall into the back room, because it comes apart into two pieces, but the top is so heavy I couldn't budge it. So now I'm going through all the stuff, hoping to get rid of half of it.
So, I'm feeling better. Have to realize I have to keep busy - can't just sit in the recliner feeling sorry for myself. Things could be a lot worse. And as I see my place get more organized and when I start "fixing things up" I feel better about myself - gives me a feeling of accomplishment, which I haven't had in a long time. So things are better.
Carla - Glad your car problem has been diagnosed. I'm having problems with mine too. Twice within the last month, it has stalled out in traffic - once in stop-and-gro traffic on the highway, on once in stop-and-go traffic on the roadway. Had to jump out, open the hood, and jiggle some wires, then it started right back up. Stopped by the mechanic and he looked at it, and told me to diagnose it I would have to wait for it to happen again, and then have the car towed there!!! Doesn't make sense--seems it's just a loose connection - I'm going to see if I can get Maura's boyfriend to look at it. This happened about a year ago several times, but then resolved itself.
Jeannie - I used to absolutely h.a.t.e. interviews. Maybe now I'd do better now because I feel so much better about myself. I loved your "Gay Men and Balloons" story! You are lucky - sounds like you have a wonderful husband and many good friends.
Cindy - Hope you PCP appointment goes well. I always try to schedule as many appointments on the same day that I can - saves on the drive into the city.
Kathy - Liquid Diet Stage!! I was lucky, only had to do full liquids for 24 hours pre-op. But that seems to be the exception to the rule. But you have such determination, I'm sure you'll make it through - you've got your eye on the prize. I'm so excited and happy for you.
Arlene - How are you doing? You mentioned a while ago you were having problems with protein bars and were not drinking your water. I got in trouble for several months because I started eating carbs, and it stopped my weight loss. I didn't gain, but I didn't lose either. Finally went cold turkey and the scale is moving down again. I hope you're doing well.
Cindi - Hope everything went well with the movers! What a hassle it is to pack up and move. When I was first married, we moved several times in the first few years of our marriage, and we always did it all ourselves. My husband, Mick, was great at handling most of it himself - we could never afford to hire movers. I would love to move one more time into a place in better shape, but I have to accept that I just have to get busy and keep working on this place. I'm making pretty good progress going through things and organizing what I'm keeping and piling up what I'm going to get rid of. Once I finish that, I'll start doing some heavy duty cleaning and painting, and hopefully be able to hire a "handyman" for a day or two.
Vickie - Looks like Budder had a great birthday party. I can see where he would have problems at the show - two hours+ is a long time for the young'uns.
Connie - Hope your new therapist appointment goes well. I had a good one years ago, then Jim talked me out of going. I've tried twice to find a new one, but didn't click with either - the first one missed two of three scheduled appointments, and the other spent her time telling me to get rid of Jim and she would never put up with such a relationship. I'm thinking of trying again - maybe at the next Support Group I go to, I'll ask others there if they have any recommendations.
Eileen - Hope you finger is better and you get that splint off soon. You were lucky you didn't hurt yourself more! It's amazing how an injury to one finger can have such an affect on you overall.
Judy - What stories do you have to tell us now? There's always something happening with you. Sounds like your visit to Rick's family and the return trip were "something else" to say the least. I hope you can enjoy some peace and quiet for a few days.
Good wishes to all.
Mary
Sigh, still at it with the protein bars, even though I promise myself every day to eat clean. These are Power Crunch Chocolate Mint Energy Bars and they taste like chocolate mint cookies. I have to stop cold turkey. I HAVE to lose at least 25-30 pounds by next March.
I pray you find out what is wrong with your car, stalling in traffic is dangerous.
After all you have been through, I have nothing but kudos for you, going back on plan and eating clean. Sending love. xoxoxo
Hello Arlene....you are right....you need to be taking protein bars as a fill in if your protein is down. Not just snacking all the time. I think you are right...cold turkey it is!! How many a day do you eat? How much sugar, fat and protein are in each one? I know they make those things just too appealing. They border on a candy bar sometimes!! You can do it....I have faith in you!!!!
Love to you and hugs too...connie d
Connie,
That is why I asked about the contents below...my dietician said a real protein bar has 10 grams of protein per 100 calories or is really considered a candy bar. I have looked at loads of bars over the past several months and few meet those guidelines. Or if they do the carbs and sugar content is so high. So I am always on the look-out for them.
I had found a brand I liked early on in my journey and Safeway stopped carrying them. They were so dense there was no way you could eat more than one at a time. But I can't remember their name...ugh!
Kathy
Kathy...the best I have found are the PURE PROTEIN BARS. You can find them at Walmart, Target or drug stores. I buy mine at Target. They are $11.49 for 12 bars. Protein is 21 grams, Sugar is 3 grams , calories are 180, Carbs are about 17 grams total. These are my favorite, I always eat the Deluxe Chocolate, they do have other flavors. I want to try Sam's Club and see what price they have. These are fairly dense too!!
